Terri A. Smith
Attorney/Mediator/Collaborative Lawyer
Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science and Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, Cum Laude, from California State University in Sacramento. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, where she was named a James Foundation Scholar, and a Gary V. Schaber Memorial Scholar in recognition of her work in advancing Alternative Dispute Resolution methods within the greater Sacramento community. Ms. Smith also attained a Governmental Affairs Certificate from the Institute of Legislative Practice, McGeorge School of Law, and completed training in the San Joaquin County model of Mediation prior to graduating from law school.
Ms. Smith has been a resident of El Dorado County for more than 30 years. During this time she acquired over two decades of experience in the education field, including 18 years of employment in special education departments in El Dorado County schools. Also, during these years she served five consecutive terms as president and chief negotiator where she introduced and implemented Interest Based Negotiations for the collective bargaining unit representing employee groups of an El Dorado County high school district
During her legal career, Ms. Smith has provided counsel and representation to countless individuals and families with personal legal matters. She also assisted businesses, school districts, special districts, associations, and individual clients with various business and related legal matters. Recently Ms. Smith expanded her legal services to include mediation and collaborative law.
